St. Joseph's is an all boys Senior Primary School which means that we have pupils from the ages of 8-12 in four class groupings from Third to Sixth Class. Our pupils come from a predominantly working class background and at present we have ___ enrolled.

We have 19 Fulltime Staff Members - 13 Male and 6 Female. These include Principal, Resource Teachers, Teacher for Travelling Children, Special Needs Teachers, Classroom Assistants, Secretary & Caretakers. Subjects taught include Irish, English, Maths, Geography, Environmental Studies, Music, P.E., Art and Religion. Every teaching Staff member teaches all of these. We have a further 3 Classroom Assistants.

The first Christian Brothers School opened in Drogheda on the 18th of January 1858 - this was a 2 roomed building in Westgate. This building closed in July 1955. To cater for excess numbers of boys a new School was built in 1866 at the top of King St., this is now Scoil Aonghusa.

The red-brick monastery was built in 1867 and sold in 1991 - it is now leased by the North Eastern Health Board and is used as accommodation for non-nationals. A new Primary School was built at Sundays Gate in 1936. This is known as the Green School. Numbers continued to grow and in 1954 work started on the Red School - 8 classrooms, a Science Room and Office. This was dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. An extension to this Red Building was completed in 1987.
